Fit Skin Summer Warm Up

After ten long months of rain here in Vancouver we are greeted with… more rain, but just in case the sun does decide to show itself this summer there are some crucial steps that need to be taken to protect our skin!

Most of us know that sun damage can cause premature aging, hyperpigmentation (sunspots), and of course scariest of all, the sun puts us at risk for cancer. What many of us do not know is that the sun causes a whopping 80% of skin aging. UVA rays from the sun penetrate deep into the skin, damaging collagen, which is the main protein in skin keeping it smooth and firm. The result - wrinkles.

If a pre-summer protective tan is your game plan, think again. When our skin is exposed to UV rays its melanocytes produce melanin, the dark pigment we know as a tan. Although this is our skins natural attempt to prevent any further damage to its delicate cells, this will not prevent future sunburns. A tan is merely the equivalent of an SPF 4.

Whether you’re concerned with how to better protect your skin during a hot sunny day, need post burn treatment for delicate damaged skin, or just need a few tips on how to successfully switch to a lighter product during the more balmy summer months; the Skin Care Trainers and Skin Care Coaches at skoah specialize in skin, and skin only, and are here to help with customized facials to rehydrate, revitalize, and recover.

To avoid that overly sensitized, dehydrated, and devitalized aftermath of the suns summer rays, skoah has some sizzling tips for top protection!
